bye-bye 2011!

leave a comment »

2011 – a year full of ups and downs. like literally.

I started the year juggling work, studies, and driving lessons. As if handling the first 2 wasn’t enough but I’ve been pushing back driving lessons for a few years! I’m glad I finally got my license in April ๐Ÿ˜€

And then I had my last exam in July, and later on at the end of the month, I quit my job. From being a ‘juggler’ to having nothing to do, it felt like holidays in primary school all over again.

I planned for the biggest holiday in my life, the Europe trip. simply delirious from the wait! but it was all worth it, the places I’ve been, the things I’ve seen, the experiences I’ve gathered…that is priceless ๐Ÿ™‚

When I wasn’t on holiday, I spent my time reading, catching up on dramas, took an introductory course in French, learning how to knit, going on holidays, trying my hand at making youtube videos, planning my wedding…so I’m not exactly slacking all the time ok ๐Ÿ˜›

Now that 2012 is coming, I’m raring to start again. But will I be given a chance in this declining job market? We shall see…

thanks to everyone who has been reading, hope you have had a good year! May 2012 be even better ^^

signing off with one of my favorite photos,

ย xoxo!

The Proposal

leave a comment »

Ok this title is SUCH ย a giveaway. and there are no photos because nobody knew about anything so nothing was captured ๐Ÿ˜ฆ still, I thought it would be nice to write it down. Here goes!

The proposal happened in Amsterdam, after our countryside tour at a nice italian restaurant with all my friends. Surprisingly, none of them knew that there was going to be a proposal. All they knew is that T is planning a surprise birthday dinner for me.

The minute my friends suggested to go to this fancy italian restaurant, I knew something was up. Hello, we are all students and cheap ok! hahaha. But I just went along with it. and blah blah, and we had the dinner and suddenly there was a CAKE with a candle that’s going off like fireworks!

I’m overwhelmed. It was expected, and unexpected at the same time.ย

And suddenly, he’s down on his knees. Honestly, I can’t even remember what he said. But yes, I ended up engaged on Oct 6 2011 *grins

18 roses, 9 red and 9 pink to represent ้•ฟ้•ฟไน…ไน….

I was like, wow this is the first time my boyfriend is being romantic. but he went on to explain that he got 18 because 99 roses is too expensive to get in Europe.

But, I still feel extremely loved by him, blessed even to having the chance to meet such a wonderful person who’s had such a huge impact in my life. I felt like all the negative energy that used to be surrounding me has slowly disappeared and I learnt to be more patient, optimistic, and happier.

I think this is how love is supposed to be, and I hope everyone will be able to find their own Mr Right(s) soon. XO

Countryside Tour near Amsterdam

with 2 comments

Ok I am super excited about this post because I think this is the best part of my Amsterdam holiday! Technically it’s not in Amsterdam but oh well.

We did a one day countryside tour and we visited the things that are distinctively Holland, like windmills, cheese and clogs. I would highly recommend everyone to go on this tour because I seriously don’t think there is much to do in the city.

And I’m extra happy because I finally got to meet T! It’s the first time we have been separated for that long but I think it’s good because it really gives me time to reflect and truly appreciate the little things he do instead of focusing on the negative.

Look at our smiles! ๐Ÿ˜€

First stop is the wooden clog factory.

Holy cows, the wind was uber strong!

We took a boat over to some island to have lunch. In particular fish and chips since that’s their speciality.

Super yums! Ordered mussels to go around too ๐Ÿ™‚ Just thinking about it is making me miss the feeling of just being in the middle of nowhere having a good old fish&chips along with beer. Good times indeed.

Finally time to head to the windmills! Most excited about this because I’ve never seen a windmill before. Ok, I’ve never been to cheese factories or wooden clog factories before too, but windmills are just more fascinating, no?

*breathless* it’s all more memorable when your loved one is right there by your side โค

Last Day in Prague

with 2 comments

It was our last day in Prague and we decided to go SHOPPING! New Town has a lot of generic shops like Zara, Mango, H&M, Promod, New Yorker etc. It felt like any other city, and I very much prefer Old Town and Lesser Town for its distinctive flavor.

At the end of the day, I remembered us buying smoked salmon, cheese, wine and crackers to chill later on in the apartment.

It was a fun 3 days, but I honestly can’t wait to leave because we will be heading to Amsterdam next, where I will be able to meet my boyfriend…and also because I have had enough of staying in an apartment! If it’s very clean and modern, I wouldn’t mind it that much at all but it is neither. I keep reminding myself of the price I paid to make myself feel better =s

Also, Prague had too many tourists. I do think that it is a place that you would only need to visit once, I don’t think I will ever go back again. There are far too many countries left unexplored! I wish for my job is to travel the world, but one can only wish that hard. Le sigh…

p/s: I dreamt of being in Hongkong last night. o.o

Happy Boxing Day!

How did you guys spend your Christmas? Mine was very cosy. We went for brunch just below the house as usual, and then to Vivo to get T’s present because he wanted a new shaver. And we had a home cooked dinner ๐Ÿ™‚

So…T asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I couldn’t think of anything that I want in particular so I told him not to get anything. But the silly still went ahead and got a little something for me…I think this is the first present that he chose for me ^^

Lancome Eyes Virtuose – Travel Eye Palette.ย

(I used it yesterday that’s why it looked a little dirty :P)

Anyway, I am so happy with my gift! It’s not the biggest gift, the most expensive, but it just shows that he has me in his heart โค Also, thrilled that I have another Lancome palette to add on to the one I just purchased, heh ๐Ÿ˜‰

And here’s the swatches! (without any base)

I’m loving how velvety the shadows feel, and in general the whole palette because it is so slim and light!

Hope everyone had a good christmas. xoxo

The ‘Use-it-Up’ Project (2)

with 2 comments

Wow I didn’t expect myself to write another post on this topic so quickly after my last one, but I am glad because it means I am making progress! ^_^ Also, it’s because I noticed a few items that I am not using anymore and I want to chuck them out. Oh wells, at least, those that I bear to chuck out for now (I am still hoarding quite a lot of products!).

So moving on, these are the products that I’m saying bye-bye to…

1) Bath&Body Works – Soothing Pillow Mist in Jasmine Vanilla:

why did I buy it? besides rose, I love jasmine scents as well!

first impressions? heavenly ๐Ÿ™‚ being in a nicely-scented place never fails to put me in a good mood ๐Ÿ™‚

upon finishing? I will definitely repurchase it when I go over to the US. and pick out other fragrances as well, heh.

2) VCOM Morning Gel Cream

why did I buy it? honestly, I can’t really remember. But I do remember getting it in a beauty store while on holiday in HK.

first impressions? oooh so cooling, it was the first time I used a water based moisturiser and I loved the way it feels on my skin.

upon finishing? since then, I’ve discovered way better (and more expensive T__T) water-based moisturisers (like Biotherm, Laneige)ย so I am glad that I have finally finished this!

3) M.A.D Minerals – Indelible Gel Liner in Black Cherry

why did I buy it? I love gel liners and this one had good reviews so I decided to get it.

first impressions? the sparkles are cool and it wore on well for me. Plus, it is easy to work with as compared to other gel liners I had gotten to try like Coastal Scents, Clinque, etc.

upon finishing? I haven’t finished the product, but it dried out. I know that I can do something about it like dropping some sort of medium or something (?) but I didn’t want to because I don’t use it that often anyway. I’m actually quite a boring person when it comes to liners, I like blacks (Mac’s Blacktrack is my favorite!) and dark browns.

4) Maybelline – Line Allure Eyestudio in Black

why did I buy it? got it in one of Maybelline’s goodie bags. I think it was a workshop I went to or maybe a lucky draw.

first impressions? why is the tip sooooo hard?!

upon finishing? I haven’t finished this either, but maybe halfway through. Decided to give up on this because I don’t reach for it often at all! My eyelid hurts a little (like really a little but I’m pointing it out because I am very fussy) whenever I apply it because of the tip. But it does lasts well, and gives a very black line. Maybe they made it this way so that it is easier for people to draw the line.

5) Liese Juicy Shower Moisturising Hair Mist (with raspberry extract)

why did I buy it? my hair is so frizzy so I am always trying new hair products.

first impressions? smells so good!

upon finishing? it is slightly below the halfway mark and yes, yet another going to the bin without me finishing =/ there was a time when I put it in my bag and due to all the movement, it was super bubbly (? or foamy) so I couldn’t dispense anything out. I tried after a while but still, the same situation! It has since returned to its original state but other better products have come out so I am just not going to waste my time with this anymore. Plus, I am reading the ingredients list now and it has alcohol listed as its second ingredient. Isn’t alcohol supposed to be DRYING?

6) Vichy Normaderm Deep Cleansing Gel

why did I buy it?ย it was included in a sample set given to me for free after I purchased some of their products.

first impressions?ย good, doesn’t dry up my skin.

upon finishing?ย I’m on the fence for this product, I don’t hate it but I’m not particularly in love with it either.

I would love to offer you guys these products that I never finished but I don’t have a lot of readers so I don’t think I will have a response. But if you feel like I shouldn’t throw them away (like you want them or you have some other idea), please email me! whitepaperroses@gmail.com

getting hair out of the way.

My bangs are finally long enough for me to tie them away into a bun with the rest of the hair! *throws confetti*

To celebrate, I decided to post some photos of myself ๐Ÿ˜›

hope everyone have finished their christmas shopping because I haven’t. dreading going to town later because I know there will be hordes of last minute shoppers (like me! T__T) around zzz.
