Eiffel Tower at Night

My heart was literally pounding as I approached the Eiffel Tower. Imagine something that defines a city, that you have seen your whole life on photos, right in front of you. I felt exhilaration, crossing one item off my bucket list :p

The Eiffel Tower was built for the World Exhibition in 1889, held in celebration of the French Revolution in 1789.
The construction was only meant to last for the duration of the Exposition, but it still stands today, despite all protests from contemporary artists who feared the construction would be the advent of structures without ‘individuality’ and despite the many people who feared that this huge ‘object’ would not fit into the architecture of Paris.

Today, there is no such aversion anymore among the Parisians, and one could not imagine Paris without the Eiffel Tower, in fact it has become the symbol of the City of Light.

We finally reached the bottom of the tower and had some fun taking photos while waiting for the queue. It was crazy actually! We waited for over an hour to get our tickets. After getting the tickets, (if you look young, ask for student prices!) the wait was pretty fast.

The ride up was a little jerky, but all was well. It was extremely windy on the top and I ended up zipping around, taking photos as quick as I can and hiding in a corner afterwards.

If I ever come back to Paris, I would definitely visit the Eiffel Tower during the day for a different experience.

Hope you enjoyed the photos and thanks for reading! xo
