what I’ve been wearing…(7)

with one comment

1) top & skirt from a random shop in Korea, belt from a random shop in BKK, ear-ring from ASOS

2) dress from Love, Bonito, ear-rings and necklace from Tiffany&Co

I bought this dress really long ago and I really love it! The shade and fit is just perfect for me. Wore it for Valentine’s Day 🙂

3) dress from Twist&Tango, scarf from Alice Hannah

4) dress from Valleygirl, necklace from New Yorker

****************

Whoohoo realised that I didn’t have any H&M or Forever21 items in this post! I think I should branch out more instead of always buying from the same shops =/ ASOS is a good place to start with since they house so many brands, and there’s free international shipping. And they always have a lot of discounts. So evil, tskkkkk.

I am starting work tomorrow! Feeling very nervous. Thanks to 2012 being a Leap year, I have an extra day of slacking lolol. Hope your 29 Feb is spent with a meaningful someone! X

The ‘Use-it-up’ Project (4)

leave a comment »

Every time I finished up 5 products, I feel very proud of myself. And because it’s such an awesome feeling, I find myself becoming more focused on what products I should try and finish up and then I work towards it. It also helps me to keep track of the things I have so I wouldn’t go buy more thinking that I need it when in actual fact, I have a few more removers/creams/etc lying around. yes that happens =/

And for this post, I am VERY GLAD that I finished up 2 makeup products! Whoohoo *throws confetti*

1) Avene – Thermal Water

why did I buy it? When I was young, my auntie always use Evian thermal spray and I thought that it was very glamorous so buying thermal spray has always stuck with me ._.

first impressions? I like it for spraying onto my face when it’s very hot, after doing my makeup, or if my face is feeling dry.

upon finishing? I WILL BUY IT AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. lolol. I usually keep a small size (evian one though) in my bag during flights because spraying mist on your face is not so attention-seeking opposed to putting on a facial mask.

2) POND’S – Perfect Matte ‘Control & Refine toner’

why did I buy it? I’ve always been curious about toners and wanted to give it a try to see if it helps with my skin cleansing or not.

first impressions? nothing much, I just use a cotton pad and swipe it to see if my makeup is totally cleansed off.

upon finishing? I will not repurchase this, but maybe other toners. For now, I still haven’t figured out if toners really do help with your skin. For me, it’s more of a check to see if my makeup’s been removed completely but I’m using Bifesta which is awesome so this step seems unnecessary at the moment.

3) Everyday Minerals – Natural Reflections Finishing Powder in Light

why did I buy it? I have a problem, I always think that I am running out of loose powder (maybe because I always use the same one) so I will buy a powder when I see one that’s even slightly interesting.

first impressions? WOAH why is the powder getting everywhere?! I was not used to using a loose powder because the previous one I had was by YSL which had a grinder thing for me to control how much I want.

upon finishing? obviously I got used to using it and wasn’t as messy as before haha! To me, it’s a very normal loose powder, average in oil control, average in coverage. I use it mainly to set my makeup and I am very glad that I have finished it! A powder is like a hugeeee thing to complete! 😀

4) Premier – Luxury Hand Cream

why did I buy it? Got this as a sample.

first impressions? Immediately made my hands smoother and it’s not sticky!

upon finishing? I am very skeptical about its properties, because I believe that the effects don’t last long, as in it is only moisturizing on the surface.

5) Benefit – Lipgloss in ‘Life on the A List’ (coral shade) & ‘Who are you wearing’ (dark pink shade)

why did I buy it? They had it in a pack of 3 which means I got 6 glosses in total, which is a great deal!

first impressions? these 2 shades are very easy to work with and great for layering over most of my lipsticks.

upon finishing? As you can see, the plastic black thing that connected the 2 glosses is broken so I’m not impressed by its packaging at all. It might be due to me throwing it in my bag all the time but in my defense, other lipglosses are ok! Other than that, the 2 shades are very pretty and versatile which is great for everyday.

Garnier Perfect Fit & Relax Whitening Mask Review

leave a comment »

I got this for ~$2 at Cold Storage while it was on sale. I have never tried Garnier’s masks before so I am curious as how it would compare to Neutrogena, My Beauty Diary etc. The ‘whitening’ part is the push I needed to get the mask because I am a sucker for anything that claims to be whitening.

A lot of people have this misconception of whitening products, thinking that they don’t need it if they are fair. While first of all, if you are fair, I would say ‘Congrats’. Chinese have a saying ‘一白遮三丑‘ which means if you are fair, it supercedes at least 3 facial flaws about you.

However, whitening products serve to BRIGHTEN your skin, lightening pigmentation spots and acne scars. Even if you seriously do not see any spot on your face right now (to that, again ‘congrats, please let me know what your skincare routine is), you SHOULD still use whitening products because some spots might be developing under your skin *evil grin

Right, so on to my thoughts….Although it stated ‘Perfect Fit’ on the packaging, it wasn’t a perfect fit for my face. The nose area was too long, and the mouth area a little too small but I managed to pull a little here and there to make it sit on my face nicely. However, a few minutes later my eyes starting tearing 😦 I had this experience once with another mask (which I can’t remember which one, sorry!) so I knew that all I had to do is to use a tissue paper to blot away the excess essence at the eye area so that it wouldn’t sting my eyes anymore.

I wonder if it’s because of the lemon extract.

The mask was left for around 20 minutes, and my skin felt more moisturized. I then use a tissue to pat away the excess essence and that’s it. If your skin is dry and you are looking for something moisturizing, this is probably not the mask for you. Look for products that say ‘hydrating’ or contains hyaluronic acid. However, if you have oily skin and would like some whitening effect, you can give this a try!

Hope the information had been useful, and let’s all work hard towards good skin! 🙂

Great Ocean Road – London Bridge & Loch Ard Gorge

leave a comment »

I’m finally blogging about my Great Ocean Road experience! It had been an amazing 2 days, and this is definitely one of my more memorable trips. It felt very different from my UK road trip, in the sense that in UK we were all like ‘omg look at the houses they are so cute’ but in Australia it’s like ‘wow, being out in the wild feels like this’. By being out in the wild, I mean being surrounded by hundreds or possibly thousands of plants, and many animals.

I will be spreading out the posts because I don’t want everything to be jammed into one entry then you guys won’t be able to appreciate the beauty of each place.

*******************

After getting breakfast at Port Campbell, we headed to London Bridge.

Albeit, a broken London Bridge.

Only stayed there for a while because there’s all to see.

Next stop was Loch Ard Gorge. At first, I didn’t think much of that place because I read that it’s a shipwreck place but I didn’t realise that it would be so pretty! There’s a lot of ‘space’ for us to explore. Usually it’s only a spot or 2 for us to walk around but Loch Ard Gorge was pretty huge! There were a few spots for us to take photos, lots of space for us to wander about, there’s also beach access…we spent at least an hour there!

The many plants…I was so fascinated by them.

We decided to take some photos to show that I’m really in the middle of the wilderness. It was a little scary because I was really worried that there would be snakes…really admire those models who could pose anywhere with anything just for a shot!

And this is how the beach looks like from above 🙂 I can totally imagine myself crashing here, and thinking wow what is this island?

Always happy to be at the beach!

Do I have to to repeat how happy I was? OK I think you can see from my wide smiles in the photos right? lolol…

OCC Lip Tar in NSFW

with 2 comments

I finally tried out the OCC Lip Tars that I got a little while back and I wanted to do a mini review because I don’t have any lip products that give me a red lip like old hollywood glamor so I’m excited ;D

A stunning new innovation in lip color, OCC Lip Tar combines the longevity of a lipstick, with the ease of application of a gloss. Goes on slick and moist, and dries down to a satin finish. Ultra-saturated in color, Lip Tar contains an unprecedented amount of pigment – a little goes a very, very long way! An intense yet featherweight layer of color that stands up to the scrutiny of Hi-Def Video and Digital Photography, without ever looking (or feeling!) heavy. Meant to be mixed, Lip Tar comes in concise array of colors for a limitless selection of shades made by you!

Like all of our products, OCC Lip Tar is 100% Vegan and Cruelty-Free, and is also free of parabens and other harsh preservatives. A simple, elegant formula that contains Hemp Oil, Peppermint Oil and Vitamin E, OCC Lip Tar feels as good on the lips as it looks! (http://www.occmakeup.com/lips.html)

this is one layer…

Application: I read reviews that it is very pigmented so I only squeeze out a minute amount. It glides on smoothly and there isn’t really much trouble getting an even application. You have to use a lip brush because of how concentrated the product is.

How it felt: As it dries pretty quickly, I don’t feel like there’s anything on my lips which is cool.

The Finish: I would say that it’s matte finish for me, and if you are into glossy looks, just put on a clear lipgloss or even a red one for more drama. OR, add some powder for that velvety feel :p

Lasting Power: It leaves a stain whenever my lips touches something but the lips still look the same. Not too sure on how long it can last because I had to remove it after 3 hours as I was going to the gym.

Overall: I really am impressed by how it turned out and I can’t wait to try all of the colors and also mix some unique colors of my own.

Great Ocean Road – Gibson Steps & Port Campbell

with 2 comments

I’m finally blogging about my Great Ocean Road experience! It had been an amazing 2 days, and this is definitely one of my more memorable trips. It felt very different from my UK road trip, in the sense that in UK we were all like ‘omg look at the houses they are so cute’ but in Australia it’s like ‘wow, being out in the wild feels like this’. ‘Australia is a really beautiful place….’

That’s what I thought as I looked out of the window during the ride. Strange, how Australia never left a strong impression despite the fact that I stayed in Brisbane for 3 months.

But this time round, being right smack in the middle of nature, with mountains and sea…I can’t help but be in awe of the beauty.

Crepuscular rays!

As it was late, we only stopped at Gibson steps for a while. The temperature was also dropping fast so I had my cardigan back on. I think this is a good place to go down to the beach too.

We had booked a night’s stay at Best Western in Port Campbell.

The furniture is very old, very different from the one in Seoul, but everything is clean and comfy.

This is how pretty and peaceful Port Campbell is. A very small town, and it felt so different from Apollo Bay, Angelsea (the other coastal towns).
