what I’ve been wearing…(13)

with 2 comments

This is a more special post…featuring the same skirt. I have other outfits but decided to just post these 2 together first :p

Also, I’ve started using my LX-5 again rather than iPhone camera. yay better quality photos! Or maybe not, because I suck in editing the color and saturation ~.~

1) Love, Bonito Shirt, H&M skirt

I was actually quite surprised that this shirt didn’t sell very well. You can still get it via their website. I love it! The quality is good and I think that the prints are gorgeous. Very high-end fashion kind of look and fabulous material.

2) Primark top, H&M skirt

Got this top while I was in Manchester. It’s a very pretty flowy top and is high-low too but I tucked it in in this pairing to look more professional. The color is more appropriate for fall I suppose. Although in Singapore, there’s no fall but I still do get influenced by the seasons due to the massive amounts of youtube videos I watch :p

So this ends my short post. Do check back for more and thanks for reading! ^^

A little Watsons Haul

leave a comment »

I find it very difficult to walk out of Watsons without purchasing anything. Is this a problem?

Well, if it’s some consolation for my wallet at all, all these items are on sale 😀

(from left to right)

1) Vaseline Healthy White Lotion with spf 24 – wanted to get a body lotion with spf for ages because I felt that my face is whiter than my body so I wanted to protect my body too! Now I just need to incorporate it into my daily morning routine which can be difficult since I am always in a rush.

2) L’oreal Waterproof eye makeup remover – this was on sale for $9.90 only so I decided to get it. I can never have too many makeup removers since I use it almost everyday!

3) Matomage Hair Styling Stick (Super Hold) – I have been eyeing this for some time already but was waiting for it to be on sale :p I thought the concept was quite interesting and I don’t have to dirty my hands if I am outside. My baby hairs can get rather irritating at times. From its product description ‘A non-sticky styling stick that moisturizes while it tames stray ends and provides super-hold for a bun or upward hair styles.’

4) Ellips Hair Vitamin – they were going at 2 for $19.90 so I picked them up because my mom and a friend had raved about them before. Plus they are in capsules form, which makes it easy to bring it on the go or even for traveling rather than bringing a big bottle around.

Pink bottle’s product description: The combination of Jojoba oil, UV protection, Pro vitamin B5 and vitamin A, C, E helps treat damaged hair structure and repair spilt end caused by hair blow drying, curling, coloring, rebonding. Hair looks healthier, manageable and shiny.

Purple bottle’s product description: Nutri color with triple care formulation helps nourish your colored hair, treat dull hair caused by sunray, and preserve shine of colored hair.

Excited to try the hair products out. Thanks for reading! 🙂

Britney Spears – Baby One More Time

leave a comment »

Wrote this last week but forgot to post it. Very random, sometimes incoherent, definitely raw.

I’m not a person who spends a lot of time missing the past but today I find myself reminiscing quite a lot after listening to Britney Spears’ Baby One More Time.

It returned me to my primary school days because this song was super popular when I was in primary 6. Suddenly I feel old, so much has happened since I was a kid! The events all crowd around in my mind, and I just sat there reliving it all. Buying my 50cents fishball noodles, having my allowances cut because I spent too much money in the bookstore fml, getting lost walking home from school because I refuse to take the school bus and thought I was going to get kidnapped double fml…now maybe you can understand why I don’t like to think about the past because somehow the events that stuck in my head aren’t really pleasant memories. In fact, I don’t really have many good memories when I was a kid except maybe my swimming lessons. But that was only because I love swimming and not because I was the popular kid. I was the awkward kid.

Only after growing up, I fought harder for what I want, determined not to be that kid anymore. I learnt to speak up, to get noticed, and not to give in any sort of bullying. I try hard to stand up for what is right, I stumble along the way…I don’t dwell on the unhappy things, I find it difficult to feel compassion and to be helpful, I feel disconnected from the world sometimes. I feel lost all the time.

Some days…days like this, make me realise how far I’ve come, how long I still have to go…It makes me ponder on the purpose of life, it makes me emotional, it makes me want to just get out of Singapore and live a different life altogether else well. What would it be like if I was living in a small town somewhere in the UK?

But at the end, on such days, I can only shake myself out of the day dreams, stop myself from living in my head and continue to work hard to be the person I want to be and live a life I don’t regret.

Wedding Preparations – Bridal Studio

with 5 comments

Hi all, how’s your day going so far? 🙂

Today I decided to continue on my Wedding Preparation series, and this second part will be all about the dresses I chose and my experiences with the bridal studios. I don’t have a lot of photos, especially in bridal studios because we were not allowed to take pictures but at least you get to see what I chose in the end!

Warning: very long post, for more photos of my gowns you can also refer to my first post here where I posted a few of my favorite photos from my pre-wedding photoshoot.

Disclaimer: Everything written is purely based on my thoughts and experiences.

Now, as a female, I believe that you must have always dream about the kind of wedding dress you will have especially if you are a hopeless romantic like me. I’ve always thought I would go for a ball gown, with many layers of tulle because that will be the only time I get to wear something like that. I even bought a few wedding magazines (honestly they are useless) to seek inspiration but they just made me even more confused!

We went to a few bridal shows and in the end we decided on Z wedding D’sign at one of the bridal shows. We got a ROM package, and also top up some money to rent a gown for our pre-wedding photoshoot.

Seriously I kind of regret that because I felt like I should have gone down to the bridal studios that I had shortlisted to try on a few of their gowns first and see how the service is like. The reason why I am saying this is because when I went for my fitting at Z Wedding, I felt like I couldn’t find a dress that really made my heart skipped a beat. My coordinator also gave me the impression that she just wants me to quickly choose a dress and go instead of fully letting me look through the dresses. So in the end, I got this dress and this is how it looks from the front and back.

(*Photos by LightedPixels Photography)

After we chose our dress, we had to pay the rest of the money due and she tried to get us to upgrade our package to include evening gowns and also a day gown (because the ROM package is for a short gown). However, I felt that there were too many things that we didn’t need except for maybe an actual wedding gown for my actual day. So we were quoted $1,500 to rent a gown. The price seems ridiculous, plus we were tired at that time (me being upset that I didn’t really see anything that I like and T being pissed with her being so pushy) so we refuse to sign up for anything extra. To all brides-to-be, you have to hold your stand and not just sign on something because of a pushy sales person!

Not that I didn’t give in at all, because I ended up choosing an evening gown for the shoot as well which means an additional $380 without GST. But the evening gown was very pretty and thank goodness we have that if not I will feel upset throughout my whole shoot. So this is how the gown looks like:

(*Photos by LightedPixels Photography)

Everything that I love is in this dress: its passionate red, backless for some sexiness, and minimal detail. It gives me the kind of feeling I was hoping to have for my white gown. And the best thing is that there’s a long ‘tail’ for me to do dramatic shots 😉

So after all the initial unhappiness with Z Wedding (there were more but those are related to makeup so I will cover them in my makeup post), I decided not to give in to them and started searching for a bridal gown from some other place. I wasn’t too stressed out because I still got about 5 months to go before the big day. I will go into details on how I searched for my gown after I finished this bit about Z Wedding.

As you may recall, I mentioned that I got a ROM package from Z Wedding. This includes 1 ROM dress, and when I was choosing (in April) I felt like there weren’t a lot of choices. Also, my coordinator was not around that day so I got another person who also gives half-assed service. I always dread going to the bridal studio whether it is returning dress, for makeup trial yadda yadda so brides-to-be, it is very important to choose a place that you feel really comfortable in!

Anyway, choosing the ROM dress is not too bad, because at least I managed to find something that looks decent. I don’t care much for it because I know that this will not be the only dress I am donning on that day. Plus, I have already found my dream wedding gown before I came and choose this ROM dress so I will not be greedy and wish for 2 dream gowns.

Here’s it! (*Photos by 39East Photography)

Did you guys notice that one side is longer than the other? On the day I choose my gown, I had requested for the gown to be longer so they made the adjustments but! they didn’t make it even! Can you believe it? During collection, I noticed it and the person said that she will make the adjustments after I changed out of it but seriously, it is still uneven -_-

I thank God for the times I managed to keep my cool when I was at the point of wanting to pull out my hair and scream at them.

Now for my happier gown-searching times…

So it happens that the following week (after I chose my gowns for pre-wedding shoot in Dec), I saw on a forum that The Wedding Present will be having a moving out sale! I quickly made an appointment and made my way down there. I didn’t dare to have my hopes up high because, how good can the gowns that are on sale be? Plus I was afraid that their assistants will also adopt the hard sell approach or not bother about me at all, because I came for the sale and normally people who go for sales are automatically branded cheapos 😦

When I stepped into the shop, the assistant was pretty friendly and allowed me to slowly looked through all the dresses. I was so happy! Then I tried on a few of them, and even tried on 2 of my favorite ones again just to see which one to get. They were so patient and I felt really thankful for them :*)

(*Photos by 39East Photography)

This dress is very simple and flow-ly, not exactly how I had imagined my actual wedding gown to be but it made my heart flutter and I feel like a princess.

I absolutely adore this dress to death! Especially how the gown hangs on the ground and form a pretty circle around me (I know my description sucks hahahah). The BEST part, this dress fits me perfectly without having to alter it! What are the chances right? It felt like this dress was made for me 😉

So I would highly recommend brides-to-be to check out The Wedding Present because I really feel that their prices are very reasonable (I did check out their normal package prices too even though I don’t need it) and that their service is fantastic.

Phew, this was such a lengthy post. Sorry that I had some kind of a verbal diarrhea :p

I will try to do up the other posts soon too! Any questions, leave a comment or email 🙂

what I’ve been wearing…(12)

with 2 comments

Actually I haven’t been taking photos of my recent outfits but I found some outfits that I haven’t posted yet so! It’s Friday but instead of feeling happy like I usually do, it feels like a Monday because we had a holiday in Singapore yesterday. If I am off my probation, I would have most likely applied for leave! Or not, since I want to use them for travelling T__T

1) dress from ASOS, belt from BKK

I adore this dress! It’s so pretty, and looks so good. But I do think that the quality isn’t fab on this one because it is slightly thin and nude underwear would be recommended.

2) cardigan (?) from Love, Bonito, top from online, cargo pants from Tommy Hilfiger, necklace from Tiffany&co

I can’t even remember where I got the top from but it has a soft spot in my heart because the color is so pretty. And the ruffles are a dream!

3) dress from H&M, cardigan from Cotton On

I spent National Day going to our National Museum and baked some muffins at night from scratch for the first time. But it didn’t taste very good, le sigh~ any one has good muffin recipes to share?!

Recently, my friend asked me to model for her shop because she is desperate unable to find a new model on short notice.

Here are some photos that are nicer, and if you are interested, do hop over to Laziebon and show your support!

It was a fun experience! Didn’t expect it to be that tiring though. After modeling for her shop, I’m super tempted to sell up my own online store too hmmm. Maybe just to sell off some pre-loved clothes first.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Summer Must-Haves!

with 2 comments

This is the first time I am participating in this photo challenge that Yumeko has come up with! Got this know about this through Haru’s blog and thought it was quite fun, but never got around to joining in one till now 😀

This week’s challenge is about Summer’s Must-Have. Well, for Singapore it’s summer all year round so this is easy for me!

Let’s get started 😀

1. Base Makeup – [sunscreen, powder, foundation, bbcream, whatever you use in the heat/humidity of summer]

(From left to right)

A) Kose’s Ultimation Primer – I got this some time back but didn’t use much of it since I am not a primer person but now I’ve started to use it daily again as a form of sunscreen too and also as a base for BB creams that are difficult to spread evenly. I really like this because it is super easy to apply due to its liquidy form, also absorbs real quick too! I checked on Kose’s website and this doesn’t seem to be available anymore or maybe they changed the packaging.

B) Maybelline BB Cream – this provides medium coverage and is very easy to apply. If I want more coverage I would use a concealer but on lazy days (like today!), I would just go out with this on my face without even applying a primer.

C) Maybelline BB Stick – this is medium to high coverage and I find that using a brush gives a better effect rather than using my fingers to spread it out. It is able to last quite well throughout the day, but the oil control is not as good as it claims (for me anyway) so I blot mid-day.

2. Point Makeup [blush, eyeshadow, whatever you use in the heat/humidity of summer]

I’ve been enjoying Dior’s Nude Tan Healthy Glow Enhancing Powder and Benefit’s Hervana blush for a healthy glow.

For summer days, eyeliner is never meant to be strong but we still need it to stay well. My new found love is Dollywink’s liquid liner (how cute is the packaging!). To prevent it from looking too strong, I usually soften is with a pencil liner, color depending on my eye makeup. I’ve been using Victoria’s Secret’s pencil liner in brown to line 3/4 of my lower lash line for a softer look, and it doesn’t not smudge. Amazing stuff.

3. Sunglasses/Hat/Anything you are wearing to block out the sun’s harmful rays

I use sunglasses mostly during driving. Those are on my car so I just took a picture of 2 other sunglasses I have lying around the room.

4. Deodorant/Body Spray/Perfume [whatever you are using to make yourself smell good]

I’ve never tried using deodorant until recently and I choose to try out Dove. So far I’m really liking it because it is a very gentle smell and lasts really well too! Parika is a hair cologne, something that I got when I was in Tokyo for a summer. I use it on day-old hair so it won’t be gross-smelling and it lasts very well too! Everything lasts pretty well for me so I don’t think I am a good guide hahahha. The last item I have is a scent I am currently obsessed with – Bodyshop’s Moroccan Rose EDT. To smell of roses on  a hot summer day sounds pretty awesome to me :p

5. Other must-haves for Summer

My Koji Etiquette & Travel Eye Makeup Cleansing Swab that is handy when I’m out and need to remove makeup that has strayed. Another is La Roche-Posay’s thermal spring water that is always refreshing on the face if it’s too hot. I’m using the Clean&Clear oil blotting sheets for mid-day blotting and I love this because it smells of grapefruit. Lastly, it is my leopard print scrunchie that keeps my hair out of the face.

This has been fun and I will try to take part in more of the weekly photo challenges! Anyone is welcome to participate, if you do, leave a comment and I will be sure to check your post out. Xx
