The ‘Use-it-up’ Project (21) – July Edition

leave a comment »

I am in a super good mood today! First of all, it’s the end of the month which means PAYDAY 😀

Second good thing is that my huge ASOS haul is here. Whoo! And T made dinner for me tonight.

Ok that’s all, but it’s enough to make me feel happy.

1) The Body Shop – Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner

why did I buy it? it was on sale so I thought I will give this a go!

first impressions? it has a strong tea tree scent, and tones the skin pretty well. I use this in the morning, because I don’t use any cleanser in the morning (my skin will freak out if I cleanse it twice a day -.-) and this makes sure that I get all the oil and dirt off before applying makeup!

upon finishing? have already started on my second bottle 🙂

2) The Body Shop – Shea Shower Cream

why did I buy it? I actually got this from a friend!

first impressions? just normal to me, except that it doesn’t lathers up. That doesn’t bother me but I know some people prefer soaps that can lather up.

upon finishing? I won’t repurchase this because it’s too meh, and I prefer shower gels that have a strong scent. If you can’t stand scents, this will probably work for you.

3) Kate – Eyebrow Pencil

why did I buy it? needed a new eyebrow pencil so I picked this up.

first impressions? seriously I can’t really tell the difference for eyebrow pencils, they all seem to work the same?!

upon finishing? got another ZA one because it’s cheaper and has a spoolie at the end.

4) Urban Decay – Eyeshadow Primer Potion

why did I buy it? was on an eyeshadow craze previously and wanted something to boost the color of my eyeshadows and keep cream shadows from sliding off.

first impressions? it really makes a difference in terms of color and staying power of my eyeshadows whenever I use this!

upon finishing? unfortunately, I have grown to be very lazy and usually only apply a wash of neutral color over my eyes these days and have no need for primer! so I only use this occasionally, and it started to irritate my eye area so I am discarding this.

5) Steam Cream

why did I buy it? got this because the container was cute but I am going to throw this away =x

first impressions? it has a strong tea tree scent, and tones the skin pretty well. I use this in the morning, because I don’t use any cleanser in the morning (my skin will freak out if I cleanse it twice a day -.-) and this makes sure that I get all the oil and dirt off before applying makeup!

upon finishing? have already started on my second bottle 😉

6) NYX – Lipstick in Vitamin and Georgia

why did I buy it? Got it a few years back because NYX was rather affordable so I thought I could give it a go.

first impressions? nice and rather smooth, I really did grew to love Gerogia a lot.

upon finishing? did not finish them but thought I would toss them out since I have had them for way too long. Also, because they appear to be a little too frosty for my age now hahaha.

7) Bath&Body Works Candle – Leaves

why did I buy it? because all the youtube gurus were raving about it!

first impressions? I enjoyed it as it’s a different scent that I would have picked up for myself but T hates it because he finds it too heavy.

upon finishing? In the end, I do think that I still prefer my light scents compared to this one so I won’t be getting it again this year.

Very excited for my bath & body works haul to arrive, I got an email saying that it is being processed in Singapore but that was like 9 days ago? Please hurry up!

what I’ve been wearing…(24)

leave a comment »

This week has been brutal. I suddenly feel like there’s too much shit to do, and I can’t concentrate well, my bad memory is worse than usual etc. My balance is just off.

Hoping that next week will be better, especially since T is coming back tonight! Have so much to tell him.

1) Tank top from Target, Cardigan from Gap, Skirt from a random shop in Shenzhen

2) Tube dress from a random shop in Shenzhen, shawl from Gap, sandals from River Island

3) Dress from TFNC London, Flats from H&M

Wore this for Phantom of the Opera, because I wore it almost 2 years back when I was in Paris for Moulin Rouge. Changed into a pair of heels for the show though, cutesy flats were for the office 😉

4) Dress from Zara, sandals from Melissa + Jason Wu, watch from Lipsy, clutch from a random shop in Seoul

Scored this dress during Zara’s sale, and I love it so much! The prints, how flowy it is, and the sexy back even though you can’t tell hahaha. Can definitely see myself wearing it again and again.

Have a good weekend people!

what I’ve been wearing…(23)

Looking at my outfits for this post, and there’s only one skirt that is new! Pinterest has been particularly helpful in getting me to piece outfits together with my existing wardrobe.

Been more restrained in shopping but when I do, I splurge instead so I have no idea if I am spending more in the past or now =o

1) Top from Megagamie, Skirt from a random shop in Seoul, necklace from Smooch

I have grown to learn that I do not suit statement necklaces at all! Bought a few, but I think this is the only one I will keep.

2) Top from Bershka, skirt from a random shop in Shenzhen

I feel like a schoolgirl in this outfit! hahaha 😉

3) Dress from Zara, bag from Louis Vuitton, sandals from River Island

4) Tshirt from Aeropostale, jeans from H&M

Kind of excited about heading to the States again next month!

On one hand, I have quite a bit of things that I want to buy and am seriously considering if I should bring an extra bag to store all my loots. On the other hand, I am going to be away from T for 2 whole weeks! That’s just sad. I seriously wonder how people last in long distance relationships.

Looking through my photos and realised that I have quite a bit of outfits that I haven’t posted. Not going to dump them all into one post, but will spread them out throughout this week! 🙂

1) Dress from River Island, shoes from Charles and Keith

2) Top from Gap, skirt from Love Bonito, shoes from Smooch

3) Top and Skirt from H&M, shoes from Charles and Keith, Bag from Karen Millen

4) Cardigan from a random blogshop ages ago, dress and shoes from ASOS

5) Top from Zara, Skirt from Megagamie

6) Tank top from Target, Cardigan from JCrew, skirt from H&M

All these outfits seem like from such a long time ago, except for the last one. But I wanted to feature it in this post to show how I wore the skirt differently, or not so differently. Thinking of letting the skirt go, and I should probably get around to updating my selling page for clothes! Definitely need more wardrobe space.

The ‘Use-it-up’ Project (20) – June Edition

with one comment

Where did June go?!

I have been so busy with work, which is good since time passes really fast, but I end up really tired at night. Also cherish my weekends a lot more now haha 😉

Still making an effort to do this installment! Even if it’s the only thing I will be blogging in future, but let’s hope it won’t die down to that :p

And I had actually wanted to post this up before I went for my Maldives trip (YES I went Maldives and it was super awesome!) but you already know that didn’t happen lol.

1) Dove Whitening Deodorant– Original

why did I buy it? to be honest, I have never used deodorant much but I am trying to get in the habit of it because your body just needs so much more taking care of when you grow older!

first impressions? smells great and it kept my underarms dry throughout the whole day.

upon finishing? I will not be getting this again because I read somewhere that you shouldn’t inhale the spray? Anyway, roll-ons are much easier to travel with!

2) L’oreal – Gentle Lip & Eye Remover

why did I buy it? it was on sale. I always get any eye makeup remover (actually only either Maybelline/L’oreal/Neutrogena) that is on sale lol.

first impressions? used it before, and it does remove eye makeup well just that is does leave a slight oily feeling on your lids.

upon finishing? I don’t think I will purchase this again even if it’s on sale, because my eyes are so sensitive these days! So I just want to stick to oil-free products. Especially since I used eye makeup remover almost everyday.

3) Sunplay – Sunblock 50+

why did I buy it? I still remember I bought it while on holiday in Japan because the sun was so intense.

first impressions? very liquidy, so it was easy to spread it out.

upon finishing? I am almost done with it, but I didn’t finish it because it started breaking me out. I think it’s because I just had it for too long. Don’t have a good habit of applying sunblock but I am doing real good for the last month applying SPF everyday!

4) Korres – Wild Rose 24 Hour Moisturizing & Brightening Cream

why did I buy it? because I am a sucker for skincare now that I am in my mid twenties and Korres got good reviews for sensitive skin!

first impressions? I initially used it day and night but found that it is better for day time instead. Also thought that it broke me out because it is too moisturizing but that turns out to be Korres Wild Rose Serum.

upon finishing? this really did brighten up my face and I do enjoy the smell. I have already started using a second tube of this.

5) Crabtree & Evelyn – Rosewater Hand Therapy

why did I buy it? got it as a gift some time ago! :)

first impressions? does not smell like rose at all!

upon finishing? I don’t know whether it’s my tube, but everytime I used it, it’s a mini torture because it does not smell good! The strange thing is, their Rosewater body cream scent is to die for though. Anyway, just glad that I have finally finished this.

6) Eyelash Glue

why did I buy it? got it in one of the Watsons in China because I lost my makeup bag and need an eyelash glue.

first impressions? works really well and very gentle on the eyes!

upon finishing? this replaces Dollywink’s eyelash glue as my holy grail! Dollywink is good but it is more difficult to remove, and often leave traces of eyelash glue on my lids. That would mean more tugging and hence wrinkles! This eyelash glue stays on really well and is a breeze to remove. Love it so much that I have gotten 2 more when I was in China in May. Haven’t seen it in local Watsons though.

YAY happy weekend everyone!
