The ‘Use-it-up’ Project (30) – April Edition

Been slightly over two weeks since I gave birth! Omg. Been on an emotional roller coaster ride and still trying to settle in with baby.

Thankfully I did a draft of this post earlier so I just had to quickly make some adjustments. It feels good to be doing something that I used to do before I give birth (while pumping milk, nonetheless!).

1) Korres – Wild Rose 24-H Moisturizing Brightening Cream

why did I buy it? got this as part of a skincare set that I bought, because I wanted to try out more Korres products.

first impressions? it is my third time using this, have finished two travel sized tubes earlier on. Find it to be more suitable as a night time cream.

upon finishing? it didn’t break me out but it also didn’t deliver any spectacular results. overall I think I still prefer a gel-based cream, at least at this stage in life.

2) Too Faeed – Perfect Eyes Eyeliner in Perfect Black

why did I buy it? got this as part of a two faced makeup set that I decided to get too!

first impressions? it is really black and stays on very well.

upon finishing? I have a little difficulty removing it at night but that should be due to the fact that I use very gentle eye makeup removers. This is a good basic liner that I wouldn’t mind purchasing again but not HG material.

3) Eyelash Glue

why did I buy it? again my favorite eyelash glue!

first impressions? most awesome eyelash glue ever.

upon finishing? still have two in backup which can last for sometime since I am on maternity leave now haha 😉

4) Clarins – Gentle Eye Makeup Remover

why did I buy it? bought this at DFS because I wanted to see if there’s any difference between expensive and cheap removers.

first impressions? it is scented rather strongly, but a pleasant one to me. As the name states it removes my day to day eye makeup well but if I have on more eye makeup, or waterproof liners, it gets a little tricky.

upon finishing? don’t think I will purchase this again since it isn’t really worth the money.

5) Bath&Body Works – Cotton Blossom Body Lotion

why did I buy it? got this during one of their crazy online sales and had it shipped to SG!

first impressions? smells really clean and takes a little time for me to work it into my skin.

upon finishing? I do like the scent but not really a definite repurchase for me. Wouldn’t mind repurchasing Bath&Body Works lotions

6) Bath&Body Works – Cotton Blossom Shower Gel

why did I buy it? same as above.

first impressions? just another normal shower gel.

upon finishing? don’t mind trying out other scents!

7) Elastin3 – Advanced Stretch Mark Therapy

why did I buy it? my clinic recommended this cream for stretch mark control.

first impressions? my nose can’t really detect any scent, this cream spreads rather well.

upon finishing? thankfully I don’t have much stretch marks, only slight ones on my thigh area. not sure if it’s due to this cream or genetics haha.

8) Bath&Body Works – Market Peach

why did I buy it? one of youtubers’ favorite scent, of course I have got to try it!

first impressions? it smells extremely strongly of peach, duh. not sure why I would expect anything else.

upon finishing? it’s too sweet for my taste so I wouldn’t repurchase this.

The countdown begins

My estimated delivery date is this Saturday!

These days, I am feeling so heavy and my pelvic bone is starting to hurt more and more, especially when I sleep. Cannot wait till I give birth to get my body back. And of course, to finally able to hold her in my arms! And sniff and kiss her 😉

Can’t believe that I have someone growing inside me for the past 9 months already *gulps*

I don’t think I have posted any pregnancy updates at all on this blog but here’s a draft that I wrote while in the first trimester.

 **********

11 Sept 2013

Drinking hot ginger tea now as I type this post. I am 9.5 weeks into my pregnancy now! Sometimes, I still can’t believe that I am pregnant. Is there really a baby growing inside me? Feel so strange and magical at the same time.

Went to the gynae for the second time last saturday and baby is growing well! Even saw it moved around quite a bit while doing the ultrasound and that gave me a shock as I was worried that after I give birth my baby will be hyperactive but read somewhere online that it’s normal for babies to be active during this period.

Still nauseous occasionally, but today has been awesome so far. The past few weeks I’ve been vomiting 1-a few times everyday -.- One thing that is becoming more obvious is my lack of concentration! Sometimes when people talk to me and I drift off without even realizing it and then when prompted for a reply I will be like wtf…..No problem concentrating on work though, just conversations! So weird.

Google has really been a great help! All my life, and even for this part. It’s like a friend that would never leave you hahaha. Been googling a lot of ‘can you do XX when pregnant?’.

T is very excited obviously, as he had wanted a kid right after we got married (which was a year back). He kept asking me if we will be allowed to know the gender of the baby till I got impatient. Like seriously, I think he has asked me over ten times already. He also seems very relaxed about the prospect of a new addition, unlike the worrier me. I guess this is a good balance for the both of us after all. Can’t have two chill-lax parents right!

Speaking of over worrying, when I was driving back home today, I was imagining some scenarios about people putting my child down and I felt so angry at these imaginary people. Dear Lord, I hope I won’t become an overprotective mom in future hurhur.

I am very excited to begin buying things for baby once I near the end of the third trimester but we are already looking at car seats and strollers! Or rather T is. I only like to look at cute baby clothes and furniture. We are really a good match for each other hehe 😉

**********

Now that I am nearing the end of the tunnel, I feel really thankful for a relatively smooth pregnancy. No major issues except for being anaemic and gaining a little more weight than I should.

Here’s a baby bump photo that I took last week!

20140402_190340_1

I have not gone crazy buying baby things because our house is so small, and every inch is vital. So far, all the baby things that I have gotten are essential, well I may have gotten a few extra baby blankets and a few bottles of shampoo/shower gels but that’s really about it! Some of the things that I am looking forward to is buying toys, bringing her out, watch her get to know the world and give her all my love.

Everyone keeps telling me that life with a baby is going to be completely different with some telling me horror stories. Obviously life is not going to remain the same, but we can also look at it positively right? Besides the lack of sleep, and any worries we may start to have as parents, I believe that there will be much more joy in our family and bring T and I closer as a couple.

We can’t wait to see her!

The ‘Use-it-up’ Project (29) – March Edition

Quick post tonight! Will try to update again real soon before I pop 🙂

20140317_171404_HDR_1

1) Redken – Color Extend Shampoo

why did I buy it? because I dye my hair once every 3 months so I needed something for the first two weeks after a dye job.

first impressions? I think it does help to prolong the color and cleanses really well too.

upon finishing? have switched salons, and recently dyed my hair a dark brown so do not need a color care shampoo this time. Will probably just get whatever my current stylist recommends in future!

2) Liese – Smooth Hair Cocktail

why did I buy it? my friend used this when I was traveling with her and I really liked the scent!

first impressions? helps with bed head hair and tames the frizziness.

upon finishing? I took an incredibly long time to finish this product! I do like the scent, but have gotten bored with it. That being said, I am very interested to try out other treatment cocktails.

3) Batiste – Dry Shampoo

why did I buy it? to give second-day hair a clean feeling and more volume!

first impressions? It is my favorite dry shampoo and is a repurchase.

upon finishing? I do really enjoy using it. But right not, I am trying a new brand that I got from Drugstore.com, still trying to decide which one I like better but I will definitely update this space once I have finished that!

4) Bioderma – Sensibio H2O (500mL)

why did I buy it? cleansing water is my favorite method to take off makeup and Bioderma is the best cleansing water that I have tried so far.

first impressions? Can’t even remember how many bottles I have gone through. This time round, I even bought the largest packaging. So glad that Singapore finally stocks this size!

upon finishing? Already on a new 500mL bottle. Have started using it on and off as an eye makeup remover as well since it removes waterproof eye makeup really well too.

5) The Body Shop – Deep Sleep Peaceful Body Moisturizer

why did I buy it? got this from one of their atrium sales 😉

first impressions? just a regular body butter, and smells good.

upon finishing? overall just an average body moisturizer, so I won’t be running out to get a second tub but if there’s a deal I may get it again.

6) Clarisonic – Refreshing Gel Cleanser, 30mL

why did I buy it? this travel size came together with my Clarisonic that I purchased sometime ago. decided to finally use it since I have quite a few travel size cleansers lying around.

first impressions? it smells like it contains rice extract! I was actually worried about it because my skin had a bad reaction to a skincare product containing rice extracts, but thankfully this worked out well.

upon finishing? Just a regular cleanser, so I won’t be purchasing this.

7) Bath & Body Works – Sleep Concentrated Room Spray

why did I buy it? because I love making my room smell awesome.

first impressions? love using this at night for calming effects and sleeping better.

upon finishing? this is probably a little too strong, but I found a lavender spray from The Body Shop that smells better!

8) Parks London – French Lavender & Chinese May Chang

why did I buy it? got this from Franc Franc, it was so expensive but smells out of the world!

first impressions? I guess you get what you pay for, this candle smells incredible and I only burn this when I need a pick me up or during a special occasion.

upon finishing? it actually lasts pretty long, and burns all the way! Unlike Yankee candles or Bath and Body Works, where there will always be a little wax left at the bottom. Unfortunately Franc Franc is closing down, so I am not sure where else I can get this in Singapore.
