Bellabox – July Edition!

leave a comment »

How’s everyone doing? I just finished brunch and thought I should do up a quick post before I start tidying my wardrobe. It seems like work around the house is always never-ending!

Today’s post as you can guess by the title, is July’s Bellabox. I would have gotten this up earlier IF I had received it earlier. Can you believe that I only received it on 18 July?

Still I was quite excited for it, but as they say, high expectations lead to even more disappointment~ So yeps, you can probably guess that I am not too pleased with this month’s box.

*info below extracted from leaflet provided and my own impressions follow*

1) L’egere BB Cream *Korea* – Their line of BB creams pack 6 skin care functions into one bottle; whitening, anti-spots, moisturizing, anti-aging, skin renewal and sun protection. Perfect for an easy to manage beauty regime.

I’m neutral about getting this product, because I have way too many bb creams that I haven’t tried yet! Like seriously, if I ever take a photo of the products I have yet to use (I keep them all in a cupboard) you would be shocked. Need to stop hoarding!

2) Jimmy Choo Fragrance *London* – Imagine femininity, luxury and style bottled…Introducing Jimmy Choo, the Fragrance. The EDT, is a floral fruity combination of green top notes with Tea rose, exotic Tiger Orchid and Cedarwood. The EDP is more sensual adding sweet Italian Orange and Indonesian Patchouli to this elixir.

It’s just an okay fragrance for me, nothing that blows me away even though it might after I have tried it on my skin. But right now, I’m too obsessed with The Body Shop’s Moroccan Rose EDT that I got from a haul recently that I am not willing to use anything else hahahaha.

3) Twistbands *California* – Twistbands are so gentle on the hair, they don’t snag or break away our precious, precious mane. Twistband is so chic and sophisticated; they even look cute on your wrist as they do in your hair. New neon colors for summer.

Ahhh, this was something I’ve been hoping to get because I was curious after reading about it and the colors does look good. So imagine my delight when I got it in neon pink (my latest color obsession, can’t wait to wear my neon pink scarf out later!). Unfortunately, I think I got a bad one. The defect wasn’t too obvious (sorry I am lazy to take a photo of it because I am too disappointed with this month’s box) but still!

4) SK-II *Japan* – For more than 30 years, SK-II has brought to many women new, breakthrough technology and product information that have been widely acclaimed in Asia and around the world. Discover and experience the miracle of crystal clear skin and life today.

Meh on getting this too. I just finally settled on a skincare routine that seems to be clearing my skin so I do not want to risk trying other products now. Might pass this on to my mom.

5) Skinmiso Pore Beauty Nose Pack *Korea* – Skinmiso’s nose pack will help rid you of black and whiteheads in the comfort of your own home. With a simple three-step process you can reveal perfect skin and help ensure it stays that way.

Le sigh. Another faillllllllll. I can’t even be bothered to read the back description on what it is about. Not that I don’t have black and white heads, but this sample is just a one time usage so I don’t think I can gauge its performance well.

So after 3 months of Bellabox, I have decided to CANCEL my subscription.

Here’s a few reasons why:

1) When I first took it up, I decided to give it a trial period of 3 month. Now 3 boxes have passed, only June’s box managed to impress.

2) They are increasing their prices to $19.95/box. I wouldn’t even pay $15 for the box, why would I fork out another $4.45?!

3) This month’s came a little late? Like almost a week. Uh-uh, I don’t get why the box will be delivered even later now that they are using courier services.

4) All the samples’ sizes are of a stingy size, I do think that you can try to get samples from counter too (for free!) if you ask nicely. I heard from my friend that VanityTrove offers better sizes but they are ridiculously priced!

5) Most of the stuff that I get I am not super excited about so I would rather do my research and get something I think I would like. 3 months of boxes is $45! That can get you a blush from Benefit which will probably last you forever.

6) Because of reason no.5, I actually haven’t tried most of the Bellabox items over the past 3 months. So even though the idea of getting a box with samples every month does sound exciting, it really doesn’t make sense for me to continue if I am just hoarding onto the things instead of using.

Now, I shall wait patiently for Glossybox to land in Singapore. I hope they will not jack up their prices too high and have awesome products! Are you guys subscribed to Bellabox or Vanitytrove? Leave a comment, I’m interested to see what your thoughts are on it!

Bellabox – June Edition!

leave a comment »

This is a little late but here’s my June Bellabox!

I was super excited for this month’s one, because it is a bumper box of EIGHT products instead of the usual 5. Plus, all the brands featured are well-known counter brands so I am definitely very interested in giving them a try.

And look at their cute poster card! I am going to keep this on my vanity table 😉

On to the box’s contents…first there is an envelope of vouchers, and all of them are pretty good deals. I will definitely make use of the Ralph Lauren’s voucher, because I love that scent and they are giving a body lotion with every 100mL purchase. My own bottle is running low and this is a good reason for me to get it.

And here’s the samples!

*info below extracted from leaflet provided and my own impressions follow*

1) Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal-Extract Toner *CULT* – Made with real Marigold whole flowers and still to this day, hand-picked and placed in each bottle by hand, the Calendula toner remains a customer favorite 5 decades since it was first formulated.

At first when I picked it up, I’m like ‘what are those floating around in the bottle?!’ Then I realised it’s flower petals after reading the description. Seems pretty cool that this product has survived so long. I am usually not a toner person because I don’t see the benefits of using it but will give this a try.

2) Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate *LUXE* – This multi-award winning, 99.8% naturally derived botanical elixir was formulated to biologically replicate kin’s natural lipids for optimal skin repair during the night, so you wake up to healthier and younger-looking skin.

I am very excited about this because I have heard so much about it! Wanted to work a serum into my skincare routine because ya know, prevention is better than cure! Don’t want to age too quickly especially since I put on makeup almost everyday.

3) Lancome Genifique Youth Activator *CLASSIC* – Genifique is the first Lancome skincare that revives genes’ activity and stimulates the production of youth proteins. It is now clinically proven that the more you use Genifique, the better the results. All it takes is just 7 days to see the results.

Fans of Michellephan will definitely know this product since she is one of the Lancome ambassadors. Personally, I have never tried any Lancome skincare before so I am very curious about it as well. Have heard that L’oreal Youth Activator is a good dupe but of course, the effects will take a longer time to show.

4) Lancome Blanc Expert Derm-crystal *NEW* – Empowered with Dermactyl complex, dermal cells are stimulated to produce bright new collagen, preventing darkening and reducing melanin production. Skin is more translucent, luminous and brighter from within.

Never heard of this before but I will gladly try it out since it’s Lancome. See! Branding is very important.

5) Biotherm White D-Tox Cream BB Cream *FIND* – This BB cream gives you 24-hour coverage, unified skin tone, maintains hydration all day long and lets the natural pink undertones of the skin shine. With repeated use, dark spots fade and skin simply radiates. Suitable for all skin tones.

I’m a huge bb cream fan but I feel that I wouldn’t purchase this simply because it is too expensive! Retailing at 30mL for $70. Or I might just fall in love with it way too much after I used it. We shall see.

6) Biotherm Lait Corporel Body Moisturizer *CLASSIC* – Achieve soft, supple skin with high quality ingredients that prevents dryness and hydrate your skin. Glycerin, olive oil, vitamin E and Pure Thermal Plankton combine for outstanding results.

Again, body lotion is something that I believe I don’t have to pay too much for. Mehhh. Would love it if they had given Biotherm’s Aquasource (I love it!) instead or something off their new Skin.Ergetic range instead.

7) Ralph Lauren Romance *CLASSIC* – A timeless interpretation of the classic love story; Romance embodies the pure and refined feelings of a woman in love.

Love love love this perfume so it’s good that I have a travel size one to bring around 😉

8) Shu Uemura White Efficient Gentle Cleansing Oil *NEW* – New cult, best seller, wash away dullness. Contains natural mito-white complex and vitamin C to help prevent the accumulation of melanin deep within. Use daily for clear and translucent skin.

I have never really liked cleansing oils in particular but I have got to admit that Shu Uemura has the best cleansing oil that I have ever used. But the crazy price tag, ahhh =/

******************

Hope you have enjoyed the post =)

It’s already Thursday, just another day to Friday and then weekend. My week hasn’t been very smooth, so I cannot wait for the weekend to be here.

Went shopping for 金, pillows, items for 过大礼, and settled wedding cakes for relatives yesterday. Now left to search for the perfect pair of solitaire ear rings and I shouldn’t have to shop any more.

Bellabox – May Edition!

with 3 comments

Ok, I finally caved in. After seeing everybody tweet/blog about it, I thought I could sign up and see what’s the fuss about.

Based on your personal profile, our team at Bellabox handpicks the latest, deluxe beauty products and sends them straight to your door each month. Bellabox has links with all the top cosmetics companies from London to New York and Paris giving you access to the hottest products to hit the market.

Each Bellabox contains 5 carefully selected products, ranging from the newest lip-gloss to high-end shampoos, makeup, new product innovations (Yes you can be the first to sample the newest scientific breakthroughs in beauty) and much much more!

I was waiting impatiently for mine to arrive after people started tweeting that they had received theirs! In my mind, I was praying REALLY hard for the Candydoll samples but I didn’t get it so I was a little pissed about my box and threw it aside for a few days hahaha.

But anyway here’s what I got:

This is my first Bellabox so I can’t compare between preferring having this bag or an actual box. Would be nice if they revert to the box again so I can see what’s the fuss about!

*info below extracted from leaflet provided and my own impressions follow*

1) Enavose Cellogist Youth Guard Cream *INNOVATIVE* – Pamper your skin with this luxurious treatment. Nourish your skin cells from deep within, boost its natural restorative processes and fight the numerous causes of premature aging.

This brand is new to Singapore (I think) and I do not have any impression of it except from Kimoko’s reviews. I am trying to work anti-aging products into my regime but I am still trying to figure out the best way to do so, so I guess I won’t be trying this product out soon (in a couple of months).

2) Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Gold Ultra Restorative Capsules *LUXE* – Restore youthful cushion and ageless skin while visbly fading age spots and the look of fine wrinkles. These potent and purely intensive single dose capsules deliver breakthrough retexturizing results that you can see.

Another meh for me, because my mom has this and I can try it any time I want T___T

3) Dirty Works All of a Lather Body Wash *NEW* – Have some good clean fun with this glamorous and feminine bath, body and skincare line. You will be the belle of the ball!

HAI IF ONLY THEY HAD SENT ME THE LOTION INSTEAD.

4) Macadamia Natural Oil *TREND* – Pamper your hair with this treatment containing macadamia and argan oils to nourish and rejuvenate. For ultra smooth, manageable & shiny hair. You can reduce drying time by an amazing 40-50%!

Ok, finally something that I am very interested in. I have argan oil by Skinfood, works great and smells amazing so I’m hoping this won’t disappoint!

5) Sally Hansen Hard as Nails *FIND* – The original nail clinic in a bottle! Helps prevent cracking, splitting and chipping. Gives your nails a hard, smooth and chip resistant surface.

I already have this too!! *supersadface* It IS a good product but it will be nicer to receive something I don’t already have.

***************

All in all, for people still on the fence on wondering whether to sign up or not….I think it’s better to not pray too hard for a certain product (like me) if not you might end up disappointed. I’m going to stay subscribed for another 2 months before deciding if I should cancel. Hopefully it will get better now that I know how it’s like!

For fellow Bellabox subscribers, what do you think of this month’s box? Xx
