Christmas Celebration in School

leave a comment »

Recently Taylor had her Christmas celebration in school and parents have to bring some snacks for their teabreak. Since the celebration fell on Monday, I decided to bake some cupcakes (which turned out looking like muffins instead) minus icing on Sunday.

This is the recipe I used:

I also halved the sugar as it was meant for the kids and I didn’t want it to be too sweet. Taylor had two for teabreak on Sunday with daddy constantly checking to see if there’s any leftovers so he could have them instead. I love the feeling of making something that the family enjoys!

Googled some cute and easy Christmas snacks and felt that the one below is the most manageable and could last till tea time for her in school!

Her teacher said that she enjoyed it thoroughly and that made me mighty pleased with myself 😉

Will be finally moving next week and I hope to be able to bake more after I settle down!

2014 Favorites

leave a comment »

Though I had titled this as 2014 favorites, I would say that these are my favorites after I gave birth since the needs I had before and after birth is way different.

And because 2014 is mostly about baby T for me, I decided to include things that she had really enjoyed too!

In no random order, let’s start.

1) Fresh – Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15

After I got pregnant my lips started getting drier and was always peeling. I had purchased this Fresh gift set that comes with this lip treatment as well as a sugar scrub so I thought of giving this a go. I really didn’t expect it to be any different from the other lip balms that I had used but it really made a difference! This feels luxurious on the lips and it definitely got rid of my dry lips problem. The fact that it is tinted is a bonus, ain’t nobody got time for lip balm, lip stick then lip gloss routine anymore lol.

2) thisworks – Sleep Balm

I love this! Ever heard of the phrase ‘sleep when the baby is sleeping’? The problem here is, how to sleep the minute the baby starts to sleep?! So I gave this a go and it really helped me fall asleep faster and better too. Haven’t been using it too much though because I think my body is getting used to sleeping once it gets the chance to. Ugh, really don’t miss the first 3 months of having a baby.

3) Earth Mama Angel Baby – Natural Nipple Butter

another thing that helped me survive the first few months of motherhood. I think I have had it rather good already, because I didn’t have cracked nipples all the time, only mostly during the first month and after that I don’t even feel that breastfeeding is a painful thing. This particular nipple butter really provided relief at that time and even now when baby T bites me occasionally with her razor sharp teeth. I also like that it is all natural so I don’t have to worry about her getting some in her mouth.

4) Solitaire Diamond Earrings

When you are a mom you don’t have that that much time or brain energy to plan an entire outfit. However I do still like some accessories and diamond earrings go with everything! My photo is from Tiffany but my pair is actually a wedding gift from my MIL 🙂

5) Skinny Bracelet

I used to wear my Pandora bracelet all the time until I have to carry baby T and was worried that this may hurt her. (now I don’t worry about it hurting her, but more of her wanting to pull it off and hurting me in the process fml) Ahem, so I was saying I do like having something on my wrist and this Tiffany bracelet is so light (compared to Pandora) that it feels like I’m not wearing anything at all!

There is also a story behind this bracelet. I actually thought I lost it after having it for a month, but turns out that it was in one of my bags hehe. Found one year later. Was actually contemplating on getting a new one, but luckily I didn’t act on impulse. Can use the money saved to buy something else! 😉

6) Fisher Price – Brillant Basics Rock a Stack

To be honest I bought these because they are cheap and colorful. I really didn’t expect baby T to like them that much. She has been playing with it everyday for the past 2 months and she reaches for this the most often. But of course she doesn’t stack them, you think she’s a genius? Hahaha. Mostly, she loves banging them on the table and together. She also loves dropping them on the floor and picking it up again, then repeat action for X number of times. I guess she loves them because it’s easy for her fat hands to hold? Lol.

7) Vulli – Lazare the Cat

This was a gift for her during her first month celebration and at first I was really doubtful of how much she would like it because it does seem difficult for her to hold on to it. But she has played with this since she was ~3/4 months old and she still reaches for this occasionally at almost 9 months now! This is awesome as a teether because it is of rubber, safer than most of the things she tends to put into her mouth anyway.

Vulli is the brand that is famous for Sophie the Giraffe and seeing that she loves Lazare so much, I thought she would love Sophie for sure! So I bought it and she still reaches for Lazare more than Sophie #wastemoneyonly I feel like if she had Sophie first, she may have loved Sophie more than Lazare but I guess we will never find out.

8) Bralettes (photo from cupcakesandcashmere)

I gave bralettes a chance after seeing Emily mentioned it on her blog. That was when I was in my third trimester and I was sick of the conventional bras, yes even the wireless ones. And to my surprise I love them! I still can’t make them work under certain clothing and most days I do wear a bralette. I also love how pretty and sexy they are, even though I don’t feel sexy very often these days. My favorite brand is Eberjey because they are so comfortable!

And that concludes my post. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!

The ‘Use-it-up’ Project (34) – August Edition

leave a comment »

I didn’t mean to disappear for over a month. Thing just happened, work is crazy. Every time I tried to update, I just got tired and prefer to scroll through my IG feed instead. And baby T is now down with HFMD. Maybe more on that in a separate blogpost.

So I am going to back date this post to make myself feel better haha.

Rather boring mix of products this time round but any-oh-how, let’s do this.

1) Banyan Tree – Hair Shampoo in Thai Chamanard

why did I buy it? fell in love with the scent when I stayed at Banyan Tree Bangkok so I decided to get this at their shop.

first impressions? Love it as I felt it cleanses my hair pretty well.

upon finishing? although it is a good product, but I am not sure if I will repurchase because I am on the hunt for better shampoos. Also, it is difficult to get my hands on it!

2) Air Freshner in Jasmine

why did I buy it? because this is one of my favorite scents! a lot of my friends dislike it though.

first impressions? love it, just a simple clean jasmine scent.

upon finishing? I have a tiny bit left but I can’t be bothered finished using it as I have a lot of air fresheners at home. Felt that the product itself is just ok, since the scent doesn’t linger on too long. Also on a personal note, I have grown to prefer more complex scents these days although I am sure I will go back to simple scents in future haha.

3) Sephora – Daily Makeup Brush Cleaner

why did I buy it? use this as a quick sanitizer before makeup for used brushes.

first impressions? it is quick and easy so I really love it.

upon finishing? I have repurchased this before and will keep on doing it unless I see something else worth trying.

4) Bath&Body Works – Pocket Bac in Eucalyptus Mint

why did I buy it? super handy to have this everywhere around the house and in my bag!

first impressions? love it that’s why I keep repurchasing it. Love this scent as well.

upon finishing? I will continue to get more whenever I order from Bath&Body Works. Going through these so quickly these days because of baby T.

5) Majolica Majorca– Perfect Automatic Liner in GD802

why did I buy it? there was a good deal at Watsons! Although I can’t remember how much I got it for. Probably 20% off?

first impressions? too liquid-y and it is difficult for me to control the amount I want.

upon finishing? as I was using the Dollywink Liquid Liner before this, it took me some time to get used to it but I finally figured out that two clicks is all I need. The plus side of this liner is that it is rather easy to remove. However it dried up while I was on maternity leave. Well, I was almost done with it and ready to move on to a new liner anyway so no harm there.

6) Skinfood – Pencil Liner

why did I buy it? remember a few years back when glittery white liner on your lower waterline is all the rage? I got this for that hahaha 😉

first impressions? love it because it gives the effect that I want.

upon finishing? as the time goes by and the trend fades, I stopped using it. Also because it is difficult to remove, somehow when I thought I had finished removing it, I move and see a glitter speck still on my eye FML. This is also quite old so I might as well chuck it out.

Hi alllllllll ;D

It’s the start of a new week, and I am not suffering from any Monday Blues. Very strange, but it’s refreshing to be feeling this good (and blessed and loved!) and I hope you are feeling the same way too X

Here’s some photos of my ASOS haul that arrived recently. Got this when I received a 20% off code. It was a little more than I usually would order, but it was justified by the fact that I haven’t been ordering from them in a while haha =p

This is also the first time that all the things I got are items that I really wanted instead of the usual impulse buys so I was really excited to receive them!

1) Electric blue blazer by ASOS – awesome material and just the right fit, looking forward to wearing this to cheer up my usual cream/nude/black work outfits.

2) Dress by FCUK – I deliberated over getting this, since FCUK items are quite expensive (to me!) but I had wanted a stripe dress with white for a REALLY LONG time. So I caved in, but they sent me the wrong size! T__T gonna send it back and there goes the 20% I thought I had saved.

3) ASOS Bird Print Scarf – look at the prints!  I try not to buy too many scarfs since I have no real need for them in Singapore but I couldn’t resist this.

4) Benefit 6 Piece Skincare set – the other day, I was browsing Benefit’s website and chanced upon this cute set. So I thought, let me check how much it is on ASOS and if the price difference isn’t too much, I can get it from there instead of trying to chalk up USD$125 on Benefit for free shipping. Turns out that it was cheaper on ASOS! Not all the items are cheaper thought, so do your own research 😉

5) Just Acces Meki Drop Earrings

6) ASOS Bow Hoop Earrings

I am on a accessories treasure hunt these days, and I thought these 2 make cute additions to my current boring stash.

7) ASOS Spike Stretch Bracelet in Black

8) Cath Kidston Pocket Mirror in Hampton rose blue

I also bought a pair of shoes for le wedding but forgot to take a photo of it! Actually I am still deciding on what shoes to wear.

Hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed looking at my new loots! Lol…

New Haircut

with 2 comments

Went for a haircut and treatment the last weekend at Chapter 2. I have reached that age where I don’t change a place everytime I want to fix my hair, instead I’ve been sticking to one for the past 3 visits and have been very happy 🙂

I didn’t do anything dramatic, just a trim because I wanted to grow out my fringe. The treatment I did was amazing, it made my hair much stronger and a dream to touch now. I am hoping that with weekly masking, I will be able to maintain that condition for as long as possible. No dying of hair this time round because I am planning to dye it in June just before the wedding.

Salon that I went to:

At the beginning of this Lunar New Year, I was a little worried about how 2012 would turn out to be for me. This is because I am a dragon and supposedly it’s not a good year for me!

However, I received some surprises that made me think that I might not fare as badly as I thought I would.

1) First, I won a steamcream in a giveaway held by Makeupstash. It was something that I had wanted for quite some time but I never got around to getting it so I was really happy that I managed to win it! 😀

2) Elaine held a Valentine’s day giveaway and sadly I did not win. I shouldn’t feel sad at all since the chances are so small BUT she held another surprise giveaway and I actually was the lucky winner! megusta.jpeg

3) As you guys should know by now, I’m on a self-imposed makeup ban so I was feeling rather forlorn that I’m missing out in spring collections. But I was chosen to attend Maybelline’s product launch and they gave a lovely goodie bag.

I pray for more good things to come along my way and everyone’s way. Hope you guys had a great Monday, 4 more days to WEEKEND! 😉

products that caught my eye at Watsons

leave a comment »

Although I’m still on a makeup ban (from 10 Feb to 10 May), it didn’t stop me from going into Watsons! Sometimes I think I just want to test my own will power lol…

These are some items that I thought were quite interesting to me and I thought I could share them with you 😉

1) Clio’s eye products

I have saw some rave reviews on forums for their eyeliners but I have not tried them out. So when I saw this tester counter, I was rather happy and was happily searching my hands. However, their pencil and liquid liners were kind of disappointing. I felt that the pencil liner was not soft/creamy enough and the liquid liner was not intense enough (might be because it’s a tester though)! However, the gel liners do look promising, especially since they are packaged with a brow powder. That’s very useful for me because I somehow tend to forget to bring along my brow product when I’m traveling =.=

2) Majolica Majorca Blood on Lip and Cheek Tint

I am so not up to date with MM’s products but I realized that this is quite an anticipated product by a lot of people. I don’t really have a strong impression of MM except that their mascaras are pretty awesome. Sooooo, back to this product…I picked it up and opened it and it was this gorgeous red color. It was rather pretty BUT I convinced myself that I don’t need it using 2 reasons: (a) I don’t really like unscrewing things to get to my product but if I have to, you have to at least make sure that it is of good material which sadly, I feel that it is lacking a little. (b) I have another cheek stain from Jemma Kids that reminded me of this so NO, I don’t need this =p

3) Revlon Lip Butters

:(:( after all the raves on YouTube, I really did want to get my hands on it! I really like how smoothly they glide on. There are only 8 colors now, and the one that I liked the most is lollipop because it is a pink and reminds me of spring. I’m consoling myself by hoping that there will be more colors in the future which means I’ll be able to choose more wisely. Or even better, please have a buy one get one! 😀

Ok so that’s it! Do you have any of these products already? If so, leave a comment and tell me how you feel about them! X
