Maldives – Day 4 and 5
This is going to be my last post about the Maldives, but definitely not the last time I am going to think about this lovely place!
Here’s a photo of 5 jellyfishes, can you spot them? They were aplenty at our end of the island so we couldn’t really snorkel there despite staying in a water bungalow T_T
And off we went for dinner after another ‘tiring’ day of snorkeling and hanging by the beach! :p
That’s literally how I am whenever I walk from our villa to the island. Always looking out for sea creatures!
And ta-dah! Here’s our resident shark. Saw it everyday.
Last photo of T on the next day when we were departing. I wasn’t in the mood for photos because I didn’t have any makeup on and I was too depressed by the fact that my holiday has ended!
Although it is really very tempting to go back there again since it was really a wonderful time spent, but I want to check out other islands in future as well for example Palawan, Fiji, Bora Bora etc!
Now I just need money to drop from the sky.
Maldvies – Day 2 (Part 2)
Hello, I am here to continue with my Maldives posts. I didn’t expect it to take so long, as I was away for the last 2 weeks in August to US for a work trip. BUT I had already uploaded my photos and was ready to upload regularly! Just that fatigue got to me and I was unable to find any energy to blog till now (in a very comfortable position nonetheless haha).
After our short snorkeling adventure on the second day, we rushed back to shower and get ready for the sunset cruise we signed up for. In the end it got cancelled because of bad weather! Bummer, we could have snorkel more but now it turns out that we have 2 hours to kill before dinner.
What best to do on the island then?
PHOTO TAKING OF COURSE! ;D
Because T insisted on taking a photo with the sea plane.
‘All these makeup shall not go to waste!’ – what I am thinking while taking photos lol. It’s still not a lot, because who brings a lot of makeup to Maldives? =o
Love it when he smiles in photos ^^
And of course, we had to do something corny.
Can you spot the crabs?
And a lot more crabs that were totally camouflaged in with the wall. Love the wildlife on the island although I am sure bigger islands would have even more. But I don’t really fancy too many creatures so it’s really enough for me to spot a stone crab, hermits and big lizards here and there.
Back with more posts as soon as I feel better!
Maldvies – Day 2 (Part 1)
Today is the 48 birthday of Singapore. Initially wanted to post a rather angtsy post (partly because of hormones) but decided against it as I didn’t want to spoil the celebratory mood everyone seems to be in.
So I am just going to continue with my Maldives travelogues!
(ok we took a massive amount of photos so I am going to spilt Day 2 into 2 parts!)
I seriously love sitting at the balcony, enjoying the breeze and reading so much! Wish the construction near our home would finish soon so we can make use of that space more often. But anyway, this post is about Maldives hahaha.
Both of us in beach attire! 😀
The weather was so gorgeous.
I know it doesn’t look like it but the waves were pretty rough on this side of the island, which stinks because the water was clearer over here.
One of the things I love about Veligandu is that we don’t have to wear shoes anywhere. The restaurants, bar, reception area etc all have sand covering the floor so we don’t have to bother with shoes. It was really refreshing, walking everywhere barefooted and I really enjoyed it!
So it rained again and we sat at the bar waiting patiently for it to stop, which it did just in time for us to head over to the restaurant for lunch.
And we went for snorkeling lessons after! Both of us had not snorkeled before, so we signed up for the basic snorkeling lesson. Didn’t bring our camera because we wanted to concentrate on learning :p
Did see some fishes and saw a jellyfish float past us too =o I was super thankful that both of us didn’t get stung throughout our whole trip even though we were out at the sea for quite a fair bit!
After our lesson, we went back to our villa to snorkel a little.
But the waves were still super rough -_- and there were a lot of jellyfishes on our end too so we gave up after a while. Felt so sad that I couldn’t snorkel in our own ‘backyard’!
We decided to soak up some sun instead.
And I caught up on some reading. Don’t judge me, it’s a good beach read! :p
Love the fact that I am two shades darker now! Even though a lot of people commented that I am still quite fair wtf.
Happy long weekend my fellow Singaporeans xx
Maldives – Day One
We decided to head to Maldives for our first year wedding anniversary!
Our initial plan was to go back to Rasa Sentosa for a staycation since that’s where we got married. But my friend was going Maldives in May and that made me really envious. So I started checking the different resorts and the rest is history :p
Decided on Veligandu Resort after a lot of online research, for an all-inclusive package because we didn’t want to worry about the prices of food, beverages, activities etc.
us in the lounge, having breakfast and me looking sleepy. 10am flight is still too early for me lol.
And we reached Male a short 4 hours later! Air tickets were only $1700 for 2, inclusive of taxes via Singapore Air. They are always having promotions, since the airline industry has become so competitive.
As Veligandu was rather far out, we had to take a sea plane to get there. So we waited in their lounge for about an hour. Was already so excited about the sandy beaches which is why I insisted on taking a photo with the painting hahaha 😉
Seaplanes are ridiculously expensive though, at USD$300/pax for a return trip. There are a lot of resorts nearby as well that are easily accessible by speedboats but we wanted to go for a more scheduled island.
And we had never taken a seaplane before, so why not?
And finally after 25 minutes, we arrived at our resort! Didn’t take any photos till I reached the room, which was absolutely beautiful. We had opted for a water villa because we don’t want to stay in a beach villa and be jealous of the people in water villas for our 5 days hahaha.
And staying in a water villa is so awesome! It’s really private and the view is simply amazing.
Unfortunately, it started to rain soon after. After all, it’s the monsoon season. We decided to take the plunge and went ahead with the holiday anyway because we read that rains don’t last long in Maldives. And it is true for the rest of our holidays! It would rain for 20minutes – 1 hour and the sun would be out again.
Rested in the villa while waiting for the rain to stop, then headed out for dinner. But first, photos! Since our island is very small, we mostly took photos at the same places.
Clear waters, sandy beaches, and the sunset. It’s breathtaking.
Soon it was time for dinner and I was famished! These are the only photos I took of the buffet place. But it was really good. I will always manage to find something I like, and that is quite high praise from me considering the fact that I can be quite a fussy eater. Also, they change the items everyday so we didn’t feel bored at all.
The first night we sat in the restaurant because the chairs outside were wet due to the rain but the rest of the nights we were outside and it was simply magical. Dining next to the sea, underneath a sky full of stars with the one you love most is something I would not get sick of.
And ending this post with a photo of a bird and some crabs haha 😉
Be back to post more soon! xx
Sydney – Part 3
I figured that since I am starting my new job tomorrow, I should finish my Sydney posts since I went while I was still in my previous job 🙂
After taking a short nap at the hotel, I headed to The Rocks to catch the sunset and Sydney Opera House. Wanted to catch the free downtown bus but I think I missed it. Took me half an hour to walk over but the view was worth it!
These are the photos of the bridge where I was sitting, before the sun set, during and after.
And the ones for Sydney Opera Bridge ❤
It was such a beautiful evening, and an almost perfect one just because T was not with me.
Here’s to a new chapter in life with my new job, really want this to work out for the long term since it is the kind of company that I have been wanting to get into.
Sydney – Part 2
The second touristy attraction that I headed over to is the Sydney Eye Tower!
The view was really magnificent, though I am not really sure if it’s worth AUD$30. Everything is just so expensive in Australia =s
Still, I hope you enjoy the photos below!
After staying there for like 15 minutes, I decided to walk around the area and stumbled upon a part of Hyde Park. I said a part, because I completely didn’t know it’s Hyde Park! I thought this is some random fountain haha.
After which I went back to the hotel to rest for a while since I have been out since 10am as there wasn’t any rooms ready.
I am glad for the good weather throughout the whole day. One more post about Sydney and that’s my favorite because of the sunset 🙂
Sydney – Part 1
Towards the end of March, I had to go to Sydney for work. Since I have never been to Sydney before, I went there 1 day earlier to explore the city.
Happened to chance upon this while walking towards the aquarium ❤
Love the blue skies that greeted me everywhere I turned.
My first actual stop is the aquarium, which I kind of regret now since the tickets were pretty expensive and I could see almost all the same wildlife over here in Singapore. I wish I had just gone to the park for a picnic the whole afternoon but that didn’t seem like a 1 person activity.
Nevertheless, here’s the photos from the aquarium and more to come from other touristy attractions :p
Sorry that this post took so long to go up!
I was in China for 9 days and didn’t realise that they had blocked off WordPress as well. Can’t believe how fast this month had passed, just another week and I will be starting a new job. Excited and a bundle of nerves, one night I even dreamt about already working for 2 days. I am definitely praying that I will be able to rise up to the new responsibilities and fit into the company’s culture nicely.
Su Zhou
Besides hanging around Qi Bao Lao Jie for a day when I was in Shanghai early March, T also decided that we should head to Suzhou for a day trip 😀
The main attraction for this is 拙政园, the largest garden in Suzhou. T said that the characteristic of this garden is no matter where you turn there is always something new to look at. It does seem that way, and rather confusing for me to identify where I am.
I love my polka dot jeans from Zara so much! It’s been a while since I have enjoyed wearing jeans.
Pretty 梅花! I felt so happy looking at them, just because I love looking at flowers and also because you can only see them in winter and knowing that I managed to catch them makes me feel smug. Not a very good reason I know haha.
We then headed to 观前街 for a walk, but there really isn’t much there.
I really enjoyed the day with T though, love to have him all to myself and not distracted by work! ❤
Shanghai – Qi Bao Lao Jie
Headed over to Shanghai for a short trip again in first week of March.
This time, T’s sis recommended us to head over to 七宝老街 for the afternoon.
I really enjoyed strolling along the streets and the street snacks. It’s super crowded though!
Hope you enjoyed the photos! I don’t really have anything significant to add on, only that it was quality time spent with the husband and that is something I always cherish xx
Last September in Shanghai
This was my third time in Shanghai, for T to visit his family. Since it’s to visit his family, we usually won’t do anything much but just hang around new places. And the trip would only be like, 2-3 days! Super rush but we decided that I should save my leave days for other vacations hehee.
Very determined to make a beach vacation happen this year!
Meanwhile, enjoy these photos of Shanghai that are not of the Bund and Yu Garden.
I was very happy that I finally got to try 小龙虾!
T also decided to bring me to this newly opened tourist boat ride – 苏州河水上游览. So new that apparently no one knows about it yet and we ended up being the only passengers!
At night after dinner at his parents’s house, we headed out to 新天地 for some drinks.
Rather touristy but still enjoyed being out at night since the weather was so good.
And that marks my trip in September! I should have blogged about this before my honeymoon but the US photos are just too awesome to not share them first 😉
Look out for more Shanghai photos since I went there again just at the start of this month! Bye for now xx
